I can't seem to find a part name or number for this item. It's what I call the inner door handle latch mechanism. The inside door handle is clipped to it. It is held inside the door by three bolts and has a wire from it to the door latch. The problem is the wound up wire/spring broke and the handle just flops back and forth.

The car is a 1972 chevelle. What's the proper name of this and where can I get one? Thanks.

Chevrolet calls this the "DOOR LOCK REMOTE COTROL"
what side do you need.
I have a extra drivers side that is stripped where the handle attachs but I think the spring is good if you need it.
Let me kow and I'll try to find it.
I think a junk yard is probably your best bet.
You can choose from lots of cars..I got one off a 66-67 ElCamino to replace the stripped one I had.
email me at bertmac1111@yahoo.com if you need it.

Thanks Bert, I do need the drivers side. I'll check out some local junk yards and if I'm having problems locating one, I make take you up on the offer. It doesn't look like taking out the spring is going to be easy though.

Rick's First Generation carries a reproduction "Standard Door Open Mechanism Pair" (http://www.rickscamaros.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online-store/scstore/catalog_door.htm?L+scstore+jqfh9679ff2eee2e+111567 2397). I put a set on my 70 ElCamino.
