My wife offered to buy me a hood for my 70 chevelle now the choice is do I go cowl induction or SS are there pros or cons on the decision? If I go cowl I wouldn't be getting the door right away but I do have the emblems, is the SS hood just giving me extra hood clearance? and no fresh air, motor is a truck 454 with a performer and it already fits under the flat hood so intake fit isn't a issue, living in tucson rain really wont be a issue for leaning the cowl door off, any inputs greatly appreciated, thanks Jim

To each his own but I like the non functional cowl hood with the open style air cleaner.

All depends on what you want and mo $.

The "SS" Domed hood gets the cool bulge, and gives a lot more clearance than the "Cowl Induction" hood.

I started with 1 of each (both OEM) for my Malibu build up. I sold the "SS" and "Cowl Induction" hood for a screaming deal on a Goodmark Cowl Induction hood. I picked up the NOS embelems (minor scratches). I alo bought an outer door, pod bracket, bolts,& bushings (all repo). I lucked out on an original floor switch bracket, inner frame, inner door and soleniod that was in decent shape.

I still need the kick down switch, vaccum pod, wiring harness and check valve.

Plan on spending an extra $300 (at least) if you buy a bare Cowl Induction hood.

In hindsight, I should have kept the SS hood, and not went the Cowl Induction route. I have built 350, instead if a 396, but I was on a roll.

I went with the SS hood, cowl induction is too much extra stuff to deal with for me

how does it work without the door or just installing the door wired open? can I buy the hood and door or is there any other little parts I need to just hang the door? Jim
