I haven't bought the hood yet, but a '70 ss hood is available to me for a decent price. However, I want to add functioning cowl induction to the car later, and I don't feel like getting a new hood down the road. I've heard that the SS hoods were already prepped to be converted, and you just had to punch the hole out. Any truth to this? If not, what would be involved? I'm just using a flat hood currently.

The underside structure of the cowl induction and non cowl induction SS hoods is totally different. If you plan on having cowl induction get the CI SS hood. The non CI ss hood does not have the underhood structure to seal to the air cleaner.

The hoods are different. The CI hood has an added part on the underside that mates with the air cleaner flange when closed plus has added support for the door. I guess one could cut an SS hood and rig something but it probably would not look the best and take a lot of work. Buying a CI hood would be the easiest but that's just my .02. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Garrison,
I believe you asked about my CI hood I have for sale.

I put a few pics of the underside (dirty & cobwebs) but you can see the CI shetmetal.
