Hello...i'm new to the board so bare with me if i don't post in the proper areas.
I have a 68 Chevelle. It has a 327 with a powerglide tranny. I would really like a manual transmission. What options do i have without doing any major alterations. Would i be better off going with a new engine/trans all in one shot? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a column shift or floor shift? If its already a floor shift you have a little less to do. To answer your question, it depends on what you think is major alterations. To change to a 4 speed, you need everything, transmission, bell housing, clutch, press plate, throwout bearing, shifter, shifter linkage, driveshaft, driveshaft yoke, clutch pedal, pedal linkage, z-bar, brackets to mount all of that, the list goes on and on. Also , you'll have to change the trans hump, cut and replace the floorboard, which is probably the most major change.

You would benefit from the transmission section, search that forum on this topic and you'll get an idea of what it will take... Welcome to Team Chevelle by the way!
