When looking in my assembly manual for details on where to mount the SS fender emblems on my 72 elky there are reference lines to locate from but I can't find anything to locate those lines. The north/south line is labeled +5 and the east west is labled 20, anybody have any ideas? This will be a clone but I intend to make it an accurate clone! There's no info at all for the tailgate but I'm sure if I center that one up correctly it will be fine.

BigJames....

I've got out my assembly manual now....looking at page 489. I will be doing the very same thing on my 72 SS soon(not a clone, but will be doing a 71 clone in 5 years or so). Take a tape measure and check the placement of the "S S" emblems at about "5" inches forward of the rear of the fender, and "20" inches up from the bottom of the fender. I assume those #'s are for alignment of the emblems, the 5 & 20 are dimensions from the back & bottom, then follow the fine adjustments listed. Good Luck!

Look at each page of the assembly manual that has sheet metal parts. I found the zero refferences in my 66 manual on one of the pages called sheet metal checking. You can always use any other given measurement as a reference point. There should be two zero refferences for horizontal and one for vertical measurements.
