I installed (dry no glue for test fit) the trunk weather strip - it's Soft Seal. I cannot close the trunk now, if I do I have to slam it really hard.

I bought the same weather strip from Metro - it's worse as it's thicker.

Any tips? Can I somehow trim the side that glues to the trunk?

I don't wnat to adjust the latch as the trunk fits pefect as it is now - If I raise the latch the trunk will stick up a little.

I had the same with mine, I just put it on anyway and then left the trunk closed for a day then opened it for a day then left it closed for a week.
It's getting better, as I dont have to slamm it near as hard now.
I am in hopes it will be as it was before I installed the rubber in time.
I know if I adjust the latch I will never get my adjustment back like it was, so I'll just let it sit and see what happens?
Cant wait unill I get to the door rubbers!!!!! graemlins/angry.gif
Hope this helps?

One thing for sure you know that its sealing againest the deck lid. Not a bad thing. It will get better.

rich you might want to compare the thickness of the seals with what is on the green car. I remember talking to James Hinshaw last year about weatherstripping and he said that they have had problems in the past of the manufacturers changing the designs and not telling anyone. Neither of us could figureout why they would do that when the parts fit right before...

I just put a new trunk seal on my 69 Cutlass recently and it actually is not thick enough oddly. I can still see some moisture seeping into the trunk area and hear that metal to metal sound when closing the trunk.

Hi,

I replaced the weather strip door seals in my car and the doors could only be fully closed when I slamed the crap out of the doors. After a few days, I was able to close the doors more easily without slaming them.

I guess, the seals are very thick once you get them and the seals have to be broken in after a few days, to adjust to your car.
