hello all... I'm gonna start to restore/build my 70 chevelle that I've had for 10+ years....the body is on the frame but the nose is off... the quarters need patches but I'm gonna do it right the first time and do new quarters(goodmarks made on g m tooling) doors may need/get skins(have 6 to choose from) do I install quarters first to line them up to the doors(the hinges are getting rebuilt first) or do I install (if needed) door skins first then quarters??what is needed to aline the quarters correctly ..do the doors even need to be on the car...
the car will be getting both quarters and the tail panel that holds the trunk weatherstripping.. basicly the doors back is getting replaced save the trunk lid...
any thoughts are welcome... and thanks... graemlins/clonk.gif

If your doors fit fine right now take them off and reskin the doors and rebuild the hinges, then reinstall the doors and align them to the rockers and original quarter panels. With the doors properly aligned to the rockers and quarters you can now replace one quarter panel at a time. Leave the decklid on for testfitting and aligning the quarter panel. Do one quarter panel at a time and make absolutely sure that they are aligned properly before welding them. When all the sheetmetal is installed you can then take it apart and prep for primer. If this is going to be a full effort show quality job then all the sheemetal needs to be installed for the majority of your blocking. This way you can block from panel to panel across the openings for a perfect flush fit appearance with the sheetetal. You've got a lot of work ahead of ya- take it step by step and don't rush it.
