Me and my mom have been trying to snap the roof drip molding into place for a while now. We've been using our hands and strength only, and its not working at all. Is there an easier way to to this? HELP!

I put vasalene on mine, started at one end and snaped them on.
You need to align them end to end first as they wont slide.
Hope this helps T.C.
P.S. dont hit them as they will bend.

we can get them on half way with the lube, but then they just slip right back off after we stop holding them on...frustrating.

Slip the molding over the top first, then take a rubber hammer and gently tap the molding downward and inward on the bottom in the same stroke.

You don't have a rubber hammer? Go to any auto parts store. They are only $3-$4 bucks. That's much cheaper than damaging the molding with shadetree methods. Not suggesting that vaseline is shadetree. It's the popping into place that needs to be done correctly.

ya we have a rubber mallet, but we didnt wanna kink the molding, so we didnt try to use it.

If they are the reproduction drip rail moldings, good luck. I threw one away because it would NOT go on the car. Ended up putting the old one back on.

Yeah, I've had bad luck with the repro too.
If they're repros, you have to crimp the bottom edge after you get it in place. Kind of hard to explain, but the repros don't "snap" on like the originals do cause the bottom edge doesn't have enough of a crimp in it. Take a straight screwdriver, and carefully crimp that bottom edge as you go. If you start "tapping" it with a rubber mallet, or even the palm of your hand, you WILL ruin the mouldings...ask me how I know!

You don't have an excess of paint built up on the drip rail from a paint job do you?

Accually my garage is under a BIG pine tree.
I have found when you hit these with a hammer of any kind you put shallow dents or waves in them.
You cant see them from the side, but if you sight down the leingh of the drip rail, they will wave back at you.
I hooked mine at the top then gently coaxed them over the bottom, trying not to crease or kink them.
Mabe I got lucky cause the snaped rite on?
Good luck T.C.
