: Chevy Radio Clock Question?

I know this is a Chevelle Forum but I thought someone might be able to help me. I have a 70 chevelle but my question is about my mom's 1988 Chevy Cleberity.

Her clock light stays on when you shut the ignition off and I think it drains the battery. Radio plays well otherwise. I disconnected the plug behind the radio for now. Has anyone ever experienced this problem or know what might be wrong.

My mom and I thank you.

No schematic on that car model but I'll give it a try, with a few "I thinks". I think there is an orange wire in the radio connector. Guessing that's the constant hot line for the memory. I think it's powered off the cigarette lighter/clock fuse. Try plugging the radio connector back in, then pulling the clock fuse. See if that shuts off the clock display.

Thanks John for the reply.

I tried what you suggested. There is an orange and brown wire on the plug. The orange being the power, I guess, because when I disconnect it nothing works. With it connected the clock still stays on when the key is out.

Maybe the radio is bad?

Thanks...tony

Again just guesses, but it sounds internal to the radio. You might find another radio at the junkyard and try it. 80's stock radios are around $20.00 out here.
