My nephew has a 65 Mustang that burns solid state voltage regulators out quite regularly. I suggested he comvert it to a 1 wire system to help resolve the problem. Well it turns out that info for these less than desirable cars is not so readily available as for our highly desirable cars

Any help here guys?

Thanks, Joe

Here's a Delco 12SI 3-wire mounted in a Ford. Not sure what they did to mount it.

Joe; Are you outta your mind asking this question on a Chevelle forum, or I should say, "THE Chevelle forum"!

Seriously though. I would never consider the '65 Mustang, or any Mustang produced 'til '70, as being undesirable! I personally love them, and I'm a Chevy guy! The fastback models are definitely my preference.

The wiring should be pretty much the same as a GM application. I personally don't care for a one wire setup, and there should be an easy conversion to a modern Ford alternator available. I'm sure there's at least one good Ford or Mustang website similar to Team Chevelle out there that could help. There's probably a few Ford owners on this site that may be willing to come out of the closet and offer some valuable information on the hated rival!

Good luck, Steve
