13680 - Custom El Camino
L - Los Angeles assembly plant
02363 - Fisher Body number
714 - Ant. Lt. Sandalwood Coated Fabric bench seat
01B - January, 2nd week
179182 140004 - same type information as Atlanta car above
Nothing on a body tag or VIN will tell the engine size or options (like SS) on a 69-72 Chevelle (with 2 exceptions) so there's no way to tell if either car is what it claims without paperwork such as build sheet, protect-o-plate, or numbers matching engine.

No body color? It looks to have been white to me.

Understood, yes the LS6 has a build sheet and the EL Camino still has the 454 in the car.
70Z15 Apr 30th, 05, 11:32 AM 71 El Camino is White upper/lower (11 11 on the tag)
DaleM Apr 30th, 05, 5:29 PM Sorry, forgot the body color :clonk:

what are the 2 exceptions?
DaleM May 3rd, 05, 7:11 AM A 69 with paint codes 72 or 76 (Monaco Orange/Daytona Yellow) on the Fisher Body plate and a 72 with the "W" coded engine, 454, since the 454 required the SS package.
FO_FDYFO May 3rd, 05, 7:15 AM but nothing on a 70 tag could indicate ss? what about cowl induction option code or stripe code?
DaleM May 3rd, 05, 7:21 AM Not on the body tag or VIN plate of a U.S.-built 70. Canadian-built 70s do have Z15 (454) or Z25 (396) coded on the body tag along with the transmission type and various options - I've seen a maximum of 5 due to space limits.
FO_FDYFO May 3rd, 05, 7:28 AM thanks. how would you know on a 70 US built convertible if it had black ss stripes?
70Z15 May 3rd, 05, 8:28 AM thanks. how would you know on a 70 US built convertible if it had black ss stripes?
Pete, there is no indication of stripe color on a trim tag. Only on buildsheet.
FO_FDYFO May 3rd, 05, 8:45 AM thanks
