well the ole 70 started great using the resister wire attached to the HEI. unhooked it taped it up. then i ran a seperate wire sorce from the inside fuse box. attached it to the middle one(male) it would light up the ole light when key was turned on. tried to start the 454 wouldnt start, until i stopped the starter then it would start up. somthing is robbing the fire from my HEI. hot wired the HEI BINGO! starts great like that. now? what terminal are you guys using to power your HEI?

Bad ignition switch, not the part you put the key in. The yellow wire from the starter was hiding the problem until you went to the HEI. Local parts house should have a new switch.

Hey John........could it simply be that he is hooked up to the accessory switched bus? I would have thougt if the HEI worked with the resistor wire that the switch is okay?? I have seen this in spades before with others.

Find the source of the ignition where the resistor wire connected to should work?

Just a blurb!

Good thought. I only assumed that the yellow wire was still tied to the resistor wire. The new line should be tied to the IGN terminal.
