If you have a engine that was origanilly hooked up to an automatic transmission and then decide to put a manual behind it other than all the linkage that has to be put into place is there anything else you have to do? For some reason I remember having to put a bushing in back of the crank.

Yep, a bronze bushing fits in the counterbore of the crank, called a pilot bushing.

They have roller version of this, I don't think they are necessary and if your bellhousing is not dialed in and you use one of these it can kill the input shaft in a NY second.
