You're going to have to give a little more info. What year, engine, type of ignition. You say it won't start, do you mean it turns over but doesn't start or it won't even turn over? Sounds like you have nothing, won't turn over. If the battery ground to alt bracket or head is good then it should turn over and start. You may have other problems, lights, gauges, etc. caused by other grounding problems but the ignition and starter ground is through the main negative battery cable to the engine.

Edit: Read your post again, sounds like you have no powere anywhere, is that correct.

its a 1969 chevelle with a remanufactured 350 msd ignition accel coil

Is the engine spinning with the starter or is the car doing nothing? Headlights work? Everything else work? Need a few more details because it's hard to see through the monitor.
