Need some help on how to separate the trunk channel at the quarters and deck filler panel without damaging the channel So I can use it again with my new quarters. I can't see trying to drill out all the spot welds. There isn't enough room to get down in the channel. Please help.

what i did was cut down the trunk line and removed a lagre section of the quarter panel where i could get to the spotwelds. be carefull . as far as i know they dont reproduce the trunk weather gutter. and this is not a job for anyone that does not want to drill out spotwelds.

I'm not familiar with the area but could you get to the backside of the spot welds and the metal lip from the old quarter with a die grinder and a burr bit or a cutoff wheel to thin the metal down off of the old quarter to where it seperates from the metal you are trying to save. In other words grind away the metal on the side that is getting replaced.
When I got a donor floor for the trunk of my car I just needed the skin and not the frame rails and such that were spot welded to it and I cut off as much as I could using a sawzall and cutoff wheels to where I could then take a wire wheel to clean off the area where I thought the spot welds would be to make them more visible and then used the die grinder and cutoff wheels to thin the metal down to where I could wedge a screwdriver in between the two parts and sometimes the metal would be so thin it would seperate and if not I would come back and thin the metal some more until it did seperate.
I was not totally succesful thinning the metal due to where they were at and for the few holes I did have to dril out I sometimes used a Unibit or enlarged a hole I had made in the center of the spot weld with a drill and drill bit using a round file.
You may be lucky and be able to get in there to do what I did.

Thanks, those are both good ideas. I was going the grind off route but wanted to know if there might be an easier way. It is an awkward position. Sounds like it will be fun. I have the quarter cut off up to the channel. Just have to grind it down and separate. It is not easy to remove an old quarter, even when you can destroy it.
thanks again

I believe Ground Up has some of the pieces you need in their 2005 Catalogue on page 103 in the sheetmetal section " trunk weatherstrip gutter ".

I was able to save the pieces I have. They are in good shape and reuseable. Thanks
