Hi,
I've been trying to track down a problem with my 1966 SS 396 Chevelle with factory A/C. I removed and cleaned all of the connectors/terminals that relate to the function of the A/C. I tried the A/C but it didn't work...so I took the car for a trip around the block anyways...since I already had it out to work on it. Halfway through the trip...on came the A/C! That led me to believe that there was a loose wire...so I stopped the car, opened the hood and started jiggling the wires in the A/C circuit with no luck! The A/C shut off on it's own a minute or two later, when I pulled up in the driveway.
I then tapped on the fuse block and to my surprise...it clicked back on! So at least I know where the problem lies now!
Does anyone know who makes an exact reproduction fuse block that I could switch out? Or would one of the new style "Painless fuse blocks" with the updated fuses, etc. work better? My fuse block doesn't look that cruddy, but I'd hate to have an electrical fire because of intermittent connections (heat build up?)
Also, I'd appreciate leads on connectors for the two 3 prong terminals on top of the A/C unit.
Thanks in advance for your help...this site is great!
