I'm getting psyched. Only a couple of more weeks. Hopefully no later than the end of May I'll have the ole Chev running and on the road. Maybe by then the weather in New York will be cooperative. I've been 1 1/2 yrs. in my frame-off, getting real close to driving her again. Updated photos below in my showroom.

That's a beautiful car you got there, but why didn't you black out the tail panel?
I think it would make the car in the back.

Thank-you. I really don't know why, I just had him paint the whole car cherry red. I guess I can do that any time if I feel a need for a little change. Thanks again

I'm going to try and make it with the car this year. I came to the show last year just to look, thought it was awesome. Hope to see you there!

I swear, our cars would be twins!! :) Mine won't have as much chrome under the hood, we're going for a more stock look but everything else looks pretty similiar! Awesome job!

Thank- you . I've had this same car for twenty years and this is my second frame off, although I went a little further with it this time. It's really not too bad to keep clean as long as you drive it on just sunny days. Then you have those long New York winters to get it cleaned up for the next summer.

My wheels are 8" with the 4.5" backspacing. I actually have room for a bigger tire like a 50 series which I will be putting on soon.

How much body work was done on that car.....it's straight as an arrow down the sides.

Can you give us some insight on the paint prep/primer/BC/CC info.

Damn that is nice....

The color on mine is 2004 Magestic Red Metallic, but it has been modified a bit to my liking.

Wow,you were right! That's too weird. Even the way you had the body sitting on a wooden dolly is eerily familiar. ...Wow I can't believe it. That's incredible the similarity between the two cars... twins like you said. One stock, one modified. Awesome! That would be cool if we ended up at the same show somewhere. Very nice job by the way!!

Thank you, The body on the car is all factory sheetmetal, original quarters, floorboards etc. The front end is assembled using NOS fenders and header panel and I used an aftermarket door on the driverside, which i'm not very happy with. Nonetheless as you can see in my showroom pictures the car used to be white with blue graphics with almost absolutely no rust. A friend of mine in the body business told me it would save me a lot of money if I did the labor with his guidance. I almost completely sanded of the old paint and then had him check if it was good( if the graphics were removed completely)....Used etch primer where I sanded through. I then primed with a ppg Urethane high build primer fogged with black primer and began blocking, filling, priming, blocking, filling ,priming etc. with him checking my progress and letting me know spots that I missed and needed to work on. After about four times of doing this he gave me the OK and I finished with two heavy coats of primer. I have owned this car for twenty years and have driven it regularly in the summer so it had it's share of nicks, dings, balls bounced off the roof by my boys etc. He then took the car to his shop, did one final once over of the car and finish blocked the whole car then sealed it.I don't have the specifics on the paint other than he used 9088 GM Cherry Red and three coats of clear all PPG products. All the body components were painted seperately and then assembled after painting. He then final sanded the clear with 1200 grit paper and buffed to a high luster. This is my first real attempt at body work, although I didn't have any major rust repair to do, My hat goes off to the bodyworkers out there. It's one hell of a lot of work prepping a car for paint. I'm not kidding, not including the sheetmetal, but including paint and materials the paint job only cost me a little over $1600.00, much thanks to my friend. I was quoted anywhere from $4000.00 to $8000.00. It's not perfect, but a little sweat equity and time saved me thousands and I'm very pleased with the results. If you need the specifics on the paint I'll get a hold of my buddy and get them for you. Thanks again for the compliment!
