The speakers on my computer are making an annoying noise. It is extremely faint, but my wife and daughter can hear it also.Really weird sound like a siren off in the distance plus a grinding noise that almost has a voicelike sound. Its kind of spooky.Could this be some kind of feedback?Has anyone ever experienced this kind of problem ?

Make sure your levels are not too low, to where you have to crank up the amplifier too high. Try to set all of your levels (Wave, CD, Aux, MIDI, etc) to about 80%-90%, and have your master volume (software) set to about 50%, and then set your speaker volume for a normal listening level, and see if that helps.

If your are already at levels as I described above, and have the noise, try turning each level (Wave, CD, Aux, MIDI, etc) down to zero, one at a time, and see if it goes away.

Also, try unpluging the speakers from the PC and then plug them in again (bad connection, maybe?)

Hopefully Gene's suggestions will solve your problem. If not have you tried repositioning the speakers. Don't know what quality speakers you have but they may not have much shielding. Depending on the quality and location they'll big up electrical noise from the pc or other appliances and you'll hear it.

I couldn't find all the settings that Gene suggested but I adjusted the ones I did find.I don't think anything I did fixed it,but its gone.It made that noise for 2 days and now nothing.Weird.

Every time a semi passes outside my office window that is using the CB, I can hear them on my PC speakers for about 5 seconds or so as they approach and go by. heh.

Interference from wireless hubs and devices like blackberry handhelds will also dish out some feedback

I can't remember but certain ones have to be muted if not in use or can cause that.

They are but now that you caught on they changed to higher frequency. Still effective for mind control but above the audible range, be afraid, be very very afraid.
