Just wandering I used a drill abrasive pad to get the paint/primer/Bondo off of a fender I am redoing, and was wandering what the proper sanding steps were to get the bare metal ready for etching primer? I have sanded with 180 grit, surface preped and sprayed with an sandable primer just for temporary. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Etch Primer should be applied to BARE metal. So you need to FULLY REMOVE that temp coating you applied.
Once you removed that coating sand the panel with 180-220 grit paper. Wipe clean with a surface cleaner aka "wax and grease remover". Now you are ready for primer...Eric
