View Full Version : Nuetral safety switch coulumn/floor??? 540cutlaSS Apr 24th, 05, 12:04 AM Is the switch the same for a column and a floor shift the same thing? Joe A Apr 24th, 05, 6:25 PM The neutral safety switch is the same for floor or column shift on an automatic only. the linkage that runs to the lower column from the shifter rotates the inside of the column like the column shift would. 540cutlaSS Apr 24th, 05, 9:44 PM Well I was able to look at a nuetral safety today on a 69 camaro with the same style horse shoe shifter. There is a different switch on it. The offset on the mounting tabs is different than a colomn switch. On the floor shift the mounting holes are more inline with the body of the switch. On the column switch it is offset. It is enough of a difference that they can't be swaped. So anyone have a floor shift switch for sale? Elree Colby Apr 24th, 05, 10:28 PM Joe is correct, the switch is the same. However that is on 72 only, 68 to 71 with the auto floor shifter gets a differant switch than what is used on the column shift. Send an e-mail if you need one. 540cutlaSS Apr 24th, 05, 10:48 PM Joe is correct, the switch is the same.
