Searched around, didn't come up with a difinitiveanswer. What should a 10.25:1 468 run at? got a 4-row radiator, with a 180 t-stat. It's running at about 205-210, do's this seem O.K.? Thank's for the help, Dave

I just finished a similar engine (10.75:1, Iron Heads and nasty solid Crane) in a 70' Elky with A/C. The car has a fresh 3 row stock type Modine radiator in it. Stock clutch fan and shroud and 180 thermostat, mech. temp sender in the intake, it runs 185 to 195. Keep in mind it hasn't seen any hot weather yet though. To my experience, it will read hotter if the temp guage sender is in the cylider head. That may not be your case. Does it run that warm at highway speeds?

Just got back from another test run, it does seem to stay about 200 on the road. Actually, it seem's to be a little erratic, wondering if it's got air in the system? I did see it "belch", after I installed this t-stat, and filled it up. Could possibly be a suspect t-stat, maybe I'll start with a new one tomorrow. I am running a 4-row modine, with a truck fan and clutch. I do not however have the shroud in place as of yet, this is probably a factor. Thank's for the help, Dave.

Drill a 1/8" hole in the flat portion of the thermostat and eliminate the air lock question forever. I've been doing that on every one I've installed for the last 10 years so there's never a question in my mind about burping. I've run them that were eratic as you mentioned, I've found the bargain brands to be that way. MR. Gasket and others make thermostats that respond very slowly and I like those. I think Robert Shaw makes one too. They open and close more slowly so you don't have to watch the guage go up and down.
