I was attempting to create a very small gap under my windshield to slip a guitar string thru so that I could begin the windshield removal process.
As I began to poke very gently at the seal under the glass, my windshield popped with about 3 cracks 8" lg coming from that spot. Where can I get a replacement windshield when the time comes and should I just go ahead and bust the old one out? graemlins/clonk.gif

That's what I did too. Any auto glass place should have the windshield. Probably around $180.00 - $200.00 installed.

Thanks Jerry, I'll remove the old and worry about the replacement next summer. ;)

I'm in the same boat,... I was wondering if I should go with the windshield that has an internal radio antenna, are they any good?

I just called my local glass place and they were able to get the windshield the next day. It cost me $200 bucks installed, and mine does have the in glass antanee and it works fine.

ELLI - I was considering the same route, but am curious how did you handle the connection from the windshield to the cable that ends up at the radio? In my 69 I can't imagine there is a hole available to pass it through, let alone make a water-tight seal.

Did you find a cable that has a way to clamp on the cowl or what? I really haven't looked close at this and could use the suggestion before getting started, thanks.

The 69 windshields didn't have antennas in them. If you want to put a 70 windshield in a 69 you will have to cut a slot at the base of the dash area to get the wire through. You will also have to get the wire harness to connect it to the antenna cable.

I need to look at a post 69 car to be sure what you mean 71SSBB, my biggest concern is water leakage. Is your suggestion to get a wire harness from a later car and will it have some method to seal the cowl?

I don't know the year they went to the windshield anteneas, but it seems it was around 70 - right?

My Glass Man tryed to sell me one for my 69 and yes it will work. Underneath the lower windshield cowl trim there is a place for it to run through and you can order a 70 model harness from Yearone for this. you will also need the ground strip for the hood it is a little clip that goes on the cowl when the hood is closed it makes contact with the hood. :D
