Hello,
I want to put a choke assy on my Holley 780 for my 67 Chevelle SS. It has a big block. I have two choices. The first is a Electric Choke assy. Simple and carefree. or the later I want to trick out the cigarette lighter knob with a manual choke. What do you guys think? I live in Florida, so I really don't need a Choke. But I am leaning towards the Cigarette lighter. This car is Not original and never will be!!! Please give your opinion.

Sure you needa a choke; I was in Tampa Jan -Apr '71 and it was down to about 25* F one night during January. A manual choke would be "cool" and a low maintenance item. Use a polished cast aluminum skull with ruby eyes for the knob...

Sounds like you'd prefer the manual choke, so I say go for it.

Your car. I kinda got bored with the pull choke on my 3310 and switched to the electric.

too bad hooking up a hot air setup on a Holey is such a pain- i'd take that over an electric any day of the year.
but, since you dont really "need" a choke, i'd go electric and set it up lean so it opens fast and gets off the fast idle after about 30 seconds or so.

Thanks for the input. I guess I really do need a choke. It was my idea to use the cigarette light as the choke knob. I thought it would be kinda custom.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose but I really like my manual choke on my 3310 (except for the looks)

Pull it all the way out and push it back half way when the engine starts, no adjustments to fool around with.

I guess we really DON'T NEED chokes but they sure make it nice and there are probably a lot of things we really don't NEED.

Just trying to hook-up the choke spring , cam and the fast idle on a 66 holley. Any tips would be welcomed. Jim
