Does anyone know if GM has sold the dies to make fenders for '67's yet? Its been several years since they made any. I bought a fender from a GM dealer in '94 for the low price of $225.00. Now you can't get them from a resto dealer for under $450.00

When I asked Goodmark about this they told me that G.M. scrapped the dies...WHILE Goodmark was negotiating to buy them, but then G.M. has never been known for communication within the organization! So the Goodmark die is not 100% of the factory - but it is darn close according to people who have compared NOS vs repro.

P.S. I'm in need of an unmolested driver's fender!

GM sure loves to demonstrate that it can still **** off old customers by demonstrating its lack of interest in continuing support, let alone letting someone else do it for them. That's why I drive Fords now

Our sponsor, Ground Up, shows they have 67 repro fenders in stock for $279.00 each. I haven't seen one personally but I think that they are made by Goodmark.

I hope for your sake that they are better than the 70 repro's.

Ron,
I wasn't going to say it myself, but since you did.......

I have no personal experience with either the repro 70 or 67 fenders. I have read several posts stating disappointments about the 70 repros. I have yet to hear anyone's comments on the 67 repros. Fortunately I have NOS fenders to work with, that I purchased from a GM dealer many years ago. My only experience with repro sheetmetal is the 67SS hood. I'm not very impressed. It just seems that if they would only use a little heavier guage steel, it would be a lot better. The original hoods weigh, maybe 75 lbs. The repro is maybe 60-65 lbs. (just guessing here, but the difference is noticable). The trip here from ROC must cost double for the few extra pounds. My banged up original hood will most likely end up being used.

I would like to hear comments from anyone who has had experience fitting both NOS & repro 67 fenders.

GM scrapped the dies? While Goodmark was negotiating for them? STUPID GM!
I saw a repro '67 fender at the Barrie Flea Market last June and compared them to a couple of used fenders. They looked really nice, but I'd like to see them actually installed on a '67 to check things like gap and contours. The metal gauge is possibly slightly thinner, and I did find a very minor rough edge way back where the fender rolls in from the door jamb (not on any exposed area). I passed on the original GM fenders in the early nineties because the dealer wanted about $890 each for the things! Right!
Hey JFrey40535, Fords are far worse for finding NOS pieces for. Ford doesn't allow obsolete part #s on the computer (i.e. in inventory). I thought GM was smarter than that.
