I was just wondering if Painting drum brakes has an effect on their performande. Someone told me that it prevents brakes from cooling as fast and therfore not good for the brakes.

I hope not! I epoxy painted my finned rear drums and so far haven't had any problem that I know of. They certainly look better.

Black radiates heat faster than any other color. It is the MOST efficient color for brake drums.
