I purchased a 71'SS that was home painted by the previous owner. Not a terrible job, but you can tell is was sprayed outside and there is a film of grit on 40% - 50% of the car. I picked a small spot on one of the SS stripes and used rubbing compound. The top layer of grit cam off and left a smooth finish. My question is.. what could I do that would be easier and using rubbing compound over the whole car? Wetsanding, using some of the clay products? Any help appreciated..

Steve, Get yourself a low rpm buffer and fleece pad, some McGuire's fine cut goop, and go over the whole car. Keep the buffer moving at ALL times, so you don't burn the paint, and some tight places you may have to do by hand. Lots of work, but it's worth it! Terry

Likewise on the low rpm buffer(not an orbital buffer from K-Mart). I like to use 3M Perfect It. Works great!! A little pricey but worth it.
