Does anyone make a spray can that matches the original gray for the hood hinges and latch on a 67? I would prefer something I could find local but will also mailorder if I have to.

In previous discussions, the consensus seems to be that in lieu of the original gray phospahte coating, a cast gray provides a decent alternative. Cast gray color is readily available in rattle cans from you favorite parts store.

Thank you. I bought the Gray Phosphate spray from Eastwood but it is such a dark gray it looks black. I'll try looking around.

Actually the gray phosphate spray from Eastwood is pretty close. I had some parts plated with zinc (gray) phosphate and it's dark gray too.

That's interesting. I have seen some restored cars and they all had a medium gray color. It was like a primer gray, definately not dark gray. Maybe I should leave them like they are if this is correct. Thanks for the help.

I used some of Ground Up's exhaust cast gray on apir of hinges yesterday and they came out very nice. Hold the car back and let the paint fog on and it gives a rougher appearance, not so shiny.

The ones I have seen are silmilar to an exhaust pipe color. I have heard from others about the gray phosphate which is why I painted them with that. Which way should they be, medium gray or dark gray?

Another route is to glass bead them and then clear them. Looks about right.

Medium gray, not dark gray. Gray phosphate that I've had done or have seen on higher end restorations is medium gray.

Medium gray it is. I think that will add a nice contrast to the black paint. Thanks for the information!!
