Windshield and back glass, trunk lid, disc brakes including spindles and shields and backing plates and booster and master cylinder, floor shifter and console if equipped, dashboard, seats, rear differential.......

I want to say that the doors on the Monte are longer. I'd have to measure a door from a Chevelle and Monte to be sure. I say this because I found a Monte that had a piece of headliner trim that I wanted to use in my 71 Malibu, but the length was different.

The door SKIN is completely different because of body lines, but you can re-skin a monte carlo door with a Chevelle door skin and it'll work.

Also, the majority of the interior (minus the roof stuff as already stated because the monte's roof is different) will interchange. Montes usually have the round "gauge" style dashes if you want to go for the SS look.

Your friend has a Monte with a clutch pedal???? 4sd Montes are VERY rare, no matter which engine is in it. The bracket on frame for the Z-bar is the only piece that won't interchange with the Chevelle, everything else is supposed to fit.

actually the car came with a 3 on the tree ( 3 speed on the column for those of you too young to remember, I'm only 42) Jim

I did not know there was such a thing in a Monte. Must be very rare. Is it to far gone to restore?

a friend bought it for the disc brakes, he told me the hoods crumpled, fenders got some rust, AC delete, 10 bolt rear, bench seat, I'm going to look at the dash this weekend and see what else would work for my chevelle, I imagine it would be restorable, fenders are arizona rust, not back east rust, but the parts are worth more to us than the car, Jim

ALL 1970 Monte Carlos had 12 bolt rears. :)

There were only 280(!) Monte Carlos built with the 3-speed manual for 1971. I have never seen one. There were 545 1970 & 342 1972 Monte Carlos built with 3-speed manual transmissions.

The 3-speed manual only came with the base 350 2-barrel engine, which in turn came with the 10-bolt rear. All other engines came with the 12-bolt (perhaps a few late 1972s were made with the 8.5" 10-bolt rather than a 12-bolt).

All Monte Carlos came with power front disk brakes standard. Manual steering was offered in 1970 and the early part of '71 production, after which power steering became standard.

It's kind of a shame that it is going to get parted out, but rare does not necessarily = desirable (I'd like it though). I guess there was a reason why they were so rare when new. Also I hear you on the profit of parting it out.

We're not parting it for profit, I'm building a 70 chevelle and my friend needs the discs for his firebird, for what he's got into it,($300) it just doesn't make sense not to use these parts, after the brakes and dash is gone I can't imagine whats left is going to be worth anything anyway I couldn't see anybody paying money for a 10 bolt rear or a beat up body Jim

by the way, any info on what the rear gear ratio might be? If my friend doesn't want too much for the 3 speed change over I may pick it up, I've got a elcamino I might be able to use it in JIm

The 3.08:1 ratio was used with the 350 2-barrel / 3-speed manual combination. Typically the 2.73 was used with the automatics.
