the velle just crapped out on me today, just shut down, well, after getting it home i checked the msd coil by swapping in another, no start still. next i do the box test by using the jumper wire trigger and i stuck a wire in the pug wire end and placed it next to a ground, i got spark some time and sometimes not, so i put it back together, except i ran it normaly with the plug wire off and a wire in it close to a ground, I got spark every revolution but it looked REAL weak.... could it just be weak too weak to start the car? it's a Digital6 box and a msd billit distributor... i thought it was all or nothing with these boxes, but if it could be a just weak then i'll try replacing it..

How strong is your battery? I had a weak/no spark condition with the same box/coil before, cranking voltage was too low. New Optima battery cured the problem.

Cameano is correct. An HEI ignition takes a lot of voltage and a bad battery or alt will cause it to act up. Check to see if you have at least 12 volts.

Had this problem last week. I have the MSD 6 al. Had the no start condition at the gas station. Before this the engine was idling like it had a semi dead miss, so after many hours of checking everything, it turned out that the alternator was only putting out 8.8 volts. After having the alternator rebuilt I got 14.5 volts across the battery while running, problem solved.

iEDIT..... ok, it started this morning,,, and the a/f guage is showing Stouch, where it use to run rich, im wondering if i have an intake gasket leak etc now, there is some moisture along the gasket/intake on both sides inthe middle, but it still doesn't make sense why it wouldn't start and how it just happened all in 1 second.... i dunno, im pulling the carb/intake today to check it all out...

Make sure there isn't a problem with the pickup unit. MSDs can have problems that cause weak spark just like anything else. I had one that had an internal short to ground it ran ok but when I pulled the unit off you could see the arking to the body. Sent it back the repaired unit ran much better. They do need good voltage. Make sure you wired it like an HEI full 12 volts with nothing else hooked to the same wire and go back through every connection to make sure something hasn't worked it's way loose.
