My '70 Chevelle is near perfect except for the plastic covering on the speedometer, can barely read the fuel guage because of the fog, have tried everything to get the fog out to no avail. Any suggestions or know where I can purchase one? Thanks in advance.

All the Chevelle parts suppliers have nice repros of the covers. Got mine from Ground Up...

Do they make them for the granny gauges?

Thanks man, I've already been to a dozen parts sites, no '70 Malibu lens. They have every other year and one for a '70 SS, but not for '70 Chevelle Malibu. I'm at a loss at the moment.

When you said it was a Chevelle, I assumed it was an SS. No gauge lenses are available for the sweep dash. Your best bet is to find a good used one or have yours polished by a co. that does plastic polishing.

The plastic lens can be buffed out just like an orange peeled paint job. You will have top take the lens out, wash it, sand it, & buff it. Do a search on "color sanding" and you'll get the details.

I have done that on several lenses, using Micro mesh (http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=80939). It's a wet sanding system, just finer grits than you usually use. The kit comes with everything you need to make it look like new. I usually add a coat of car wax as a last step, as I believe it will make it last longer.

Hey guys thanks so much,I now have a plan of attack. Oh, and why don't they make '70 lenses, they make them for every other Chevelle ever made?
I assume that a '69 or '71 are different then the '70's, cause that's what I was going to research next.

Some of you probably know about this place, but for those that don't: www.eastwestautoparts.com. They carry only original parts, no repros. Found my lens for $50.00. Every repro store I looked at wanted about $70.00 for the SS lens. They're in Tulsa Oklahoma. I'm just too lazy and eager to try fixing it myself. Thanks again for your responses.
