I got a new hard line with the filter for my Edelbrock carb and I'm putting a fuel press gauge on with it. Did you put the gauge before or after the filter and why? I'm thinking after only because it might keep any junk out of the gauge and it will be easier to access the filter later on.

Put the gauge after. This way, any restriction in the filter will show up
on the gauge.

Also put the guage after the fuel pressure regulaor to,if your running one,so you get a true pressure reading of what the carb is getting.

Ideally, the gauge should be as close to the carb as possible after any source of restriction such as filters, to get an accurate reading of what the pressure is at the inlet.

Check out where the fuel gauge is on my motor.
