I painted the front section of my frame with Eastwoods chassis black paint. I'm not real happy with the gloss level. I kept waiting for it to dry hoping it would get a little more flat and it didn't. Is there and other paint in a can that is good for a chassis?

Is this what you used?

# 10025 Z - Chassis Black Aerosol 15 oz Not glossy, not dull, just right! Authentic 60-70% gloss looks great on suspension parts and frame.

I'm surprised that it's too glossy based on the description....

I'll double check on the number when I get home, but it sure is glossy. I have used thier Under Hood black for my pulleys and brackets and they look great. The Chassis black I used has more gloss then the Under Hood black.

I noticed a difference depending on how I sprayed it. One big wet coat dried fairly glossy and several thin coats dried a little flatter. My upper a-arms look like gloss black to me, where my frame looks about right.

Eastwood makes a couple of different chassis blacks. Did you use the Glossy??? or Regular Semi???

I did check and I did use the regular chassis black not the glossy. I did try a test panel using light coats it seemed to help a little but still looked to glossy for a chassis. I may have recieved a bad batch of paint.

I have a can of each, both regular and Gloss Chassis Black. I can barely tell the difference. Gloss is HIGH gloss. Regular is pretty glossy too. I have some underhood black too but it's too flat IMO. Wish they had something in between. Of course paint will tend to lose gloss over time, especially rattle can stuff. Also when exposed to the high underhood temperatures it tends to flatten. I like to err on the glossy side.
