put a new steering wheel shroud on last week and the horn was fine but today i tap it a few times and it sounds dull what could be the problem? bad horns ? anyway of checking them? bad or loose ground in steering wheel ? i put the wires from the shroud in the steering wheel hole but does anything hold that thing in? oh yea its a 70 chevelle thanks storm

Most likley the ground... Check all contacts for cleanliness/corrosion.

You can test when you take the shroud back off and ground the wire.

Mine did the same thing last month and it was just the ground

i took off the steering wheel shroud and cleaned up the ground contacts real good works fine now nice and loud well see how it works in the next few days. oh i did a search and lots of good troubleshooting and answers on there.
