4.5 is the way to go unless you want to raise the car up to clear the tires. That 1/2 inch makes a big difference. I run 275x 60x15 drag radials on the 4.5s and they fit perfect.

So, 4.5 inches of backspace are a must for 275 60? The only other they would fit is to use something like air shocks?

I think you will be awfully close with only 4"bs and might rub right away or at least whe cornering or with a full car load , or some other special circumstance. I would recommend a P255 tire with 4" bs or if you insist on going with a P275 you will probably need to roll the lip or raise the car... and air shocks is one way to accomplish this. Personally, I would not raise the car to get clearance, I would run P255 tires. 27.1" Diameter & 10.2" section width versus 28" Diameter & 11" section width. That .4" difference (.8/.2) to the lip should be enough to offset the .5". I run P275's on my 70 with 4.5"bs and they fit perfectly like said above but I don't think I have 1/2" of clearance.
Just my $.02
Good Luck,
Robert
