I'm in the market to purchase a media blast cabnet. I'm interested in any experiences or advise on size, manufacturer, and if you had to do it all over again stuff.
Thanks,
Ed C.

If you have any carpentry skills build your own out of plywood!! I did, built it big enough for some pretty large parts to fit in it. Plywood holds up fine. Much cheaper than purchasing one!! Mike M22

We bought the small one (On sale for $59.99)from Harbor Freight a couple of years ago. Works great, but wish we would have bought the next size up (It's on sale right now).

I have a $90 bench top from harbor freight and it sucks! The sand does not feed down into the siphon without rattling and shaking the cabinet then it flows good for a minute and stops again. I would never buy another one. If I had to do it again I would buy from www.tiptools.com. (http://www.tiptools.com.) They sell Scat sandblasters that look real good and they sell the kit to make your own out of wood. Order their catalog it is very informative. I will also sell you my cabinet for $40...............LOL. Ward

BigBlock455's recommendation for the Scat blaster is the best one I can recommend as well. I have the 48" $1000 unit and it paid for itself in less than two days! It is an excellent quality cabinet and is very user friendly. If you are going to buy versus build, get Scat.
No I do not get sponsor money!

Ditto on the Scat. SPEND the money to get quality. I spent MANY MANY hours wrestling with the cheap one, which is now just a table in the shop, before getting the good one. Wish I had bought the good one first.
Time spent comparison is about 5minutes vs. 1hour, it may even be more than that for some things.

I've used a Skat Blast cabinet for over a dozen years.Purchased through TiP(Trumans)out of Canfield,Ohio.Excellent piece. Its' a 960 model 28'DEEP,46"W,28"H.Get their catalog(ph#1-800-321-9260).Full of good stuff.Would recommend,if used a lot:carbide nozzles, extra lens protectors, optional 176 dust collector(standard one just too small),right routing of airlines with water traps and regulators, get the best water traps, use at the very least a 2 stage 5hp 80gal. compressor.7 1/2hp preferred.Bought mine to fix my toys up and you will be surprised how much use it will get, especially when your friends come out of the woodwork.
