: Hobart MIG - good deal

Just passing this along, not trying to sell anything.

I was in my local TSC, and they have a Hobart Handler 180 package that is priced at $730. That's typical price for a 220V MIG, until I started looking at the package ... And, I've almost got that much $$ into my Lincoln 110V WeldPak for the stuff it includes.

There is a 20lb filled bottle (that's $100 alone!)
A welding cart, helmet, gloves, pliers, there's a lot more I can't remember.

Anyhow ... if you're looking for a new MIG, give it a look over. It looked like a pretty good deal to me.

Thanks, Neal

I have a Hobart 135, and I had to supply the bottle.
I haven't tried it with the gas yet, but I love it so far.

Make sure you can find somebody willing to fill that bottle first!!!

zach,
The bottle was a local GAS supplier's, that was too small for a friend who moved to Europe.

I scored it for $20, and took it by the Gas shop to confirm refill. It's out of spec so they will want an extra $6 on an exchange. So I was golden!

The Horbart welders are a clone of the Miller welding machines. I have a Lincoln 220 volt Mig and my Neighbor bought a Miller 220 volt like the hobart your looking at.. It was 600.00 just for the machine.. He used the bottle from his old Dayton 110v Mig ..
the 220V is not a versitile as the 110 but on the positive side.. It has a wider spectrum of welding capability..
