I'm trying to spray DCU-2021. For many years I painted with Delstar acrylic enamel. It seems like the enamel had a HUGE tolerance for how you sprayed it. I'm trying Basecoat clearcoat for my first time on a full car (I've blended panels with it before). Tonight I tried painting the cowl and firewall on the 69 Velle and the base sprayed fine but the clear was a nightmare. I mixed it just the instructions tell you with the DCU-2021, DCX61, and DT885 (4:1:1). As soon as I started spraying it I said to myself this stuff is WAY too thick. The tolerance between peel and runs was incredible small. So the next coat I mixed in alot more reducer. Probably about another 2x the recommended amount making the mix 4:1:3. It sprayed a whole lot nicer but why do I have to do this.... I've never had any kind of problems with PPG products like this before. I've always been totally impressed with their product line.

My combo is:

Finishline 3 gun with the 1.5 tip in it.
23 PSI at the gauge on the handle
DCU-2021
DCX61
DT885

Thanks, Lance
