Does anyone know what are the correct colors to paint the pot joint and coupling, lower steering shaft, and shift tube lever? These are the ends in the engine compartment for a 69 malibu tilt.
Thanks for any help

This is what I have found others may have seen different. The lower portion was black on most, I have run across some that were bare but that is not the majority. Your shift tube lever if it is what I am thinking was silver Zinc or cad. I have also seen bare steel on those or the plating was wore off.

If I'm calling it by the wrong name, sorry. The shift tube? is the rod at the end of the column with a grommet, on I believe only column shift cars, but not floor shift models. It's connected by another rod to the levers on the tranny.
Thanks for the tips

It was on Manual cars also for the back up lights. That little lever will be zinc or bare steel. Hope that helps
