: Reproduction Panels
1967chevelless396 Mar 8th, 01, 5:28 PM I will be needing an SS hood and rear quarter panels for my '67 and can't find the USA-made GM panels anywhere for that year model(Ground Up, Original Parts Group, Year One, etc.).
Has anyone had any experience using non-USA reproduction panels (door skins, fenders, rear quarters, hoods)? I've heard some comments about the poor fit and thin guage metal that is used, but are they still OK to install on a "daily driver" without looking like junk?
Thanks for any help.
RichsSB70 Mar 8th, 01, 5:59 PM cheap panels are just that. thin guage metal, and poor fit. i bought cheap, half panels for my 70.i'll never do it again. the rear corner needs to be removed, and i am cutting the the top 6-8 inches off. the dip (?) in the middle of the quarter was non existant on these panels. on the other hand, i installed Goodmark panels on a 70 El Camino, and they were PERFECT. spend the extra dough, man...

I've read here that Goodmark has real good quality(at least better than most). If this statement is true then does it even matter where there made?

mr. fuzzy Mar 9th, 01, 8:01 AM i am just finishing installation of 2 goodmark quarters on my 70 ss. the rt. side fit perfect, the lt. side has a slightly larger gap between the deck lid and the quarter pnl. that seems to be manufactured with that flaw in it. other than that ,not a bad fit. i thought they were made with original gm tooling.
bb67H-D Mar 9th, 01, 8:56 AM I put year one 1/4s, 3 piece trunk w/all braces etc and lower extenions.
I bought nos front fenders from the local chevy dealer.
They had the left side nos 1/4 but not right side so I went with the year one repops.
Some of the guys hear like using the non full[repop] 1/4s as you won't have to aline the jambs etc.
The bodyman didn't complain about the fit of the year one stuff and in all turned out real nice, the lines of the year one 1/4s may not be quite as sharp as original ones but you really can't tell.

markcord Mar 9th, 01, 10:09 AM Well said pop. Besides, it has also been said that sometimes the nos stuff is no picnic either. They can be leftovers just for the very reason that they are not perfect and were passed over. Don't get me wrong, I prefer nos, but I prefer proper fit and function more.

I just finished my 67 last May. I bought Qtr skins for both sides. The right side was a great fit but the left side had to be cut where the rocker meets the qtr panel. Everything looks good other wise. I see that Goodmark make 80% qtrs now. I think I would go with them if I had to do it again. My 3 piece trunk worked great. As with most repo stuff you have to work with it a bit to make most of it fit.
