I was watching "Crank and Chrome" a few days ago (Pretty Good show, BTW) they were doing some work on a GMC Caballero, and referred to their website for "more information". At their site I saw a snippet of information about 3M Piranha Putty- I think it is a post- filler smoothing putty to use to cut down on primers to use. Has anyone used this stuff? I was thinking about trying it, but as with everything 3M, its pretty damned expensive. Would a poleyester filler do the same job ? Any NAPA equivalents *cough* MartinSR *cough* ? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

You guys should check out that Crank and Chrome show- same guys as shade tree mechanic, and some useful information, too.

That putty is a finishing or glazing putty but the proper term is polyester putty. Polyester putties are great, easier to sand and feather out nicer then regular bondo but dont have the fill capaticy like the regular mud.

A equal product would be made by evercoat cant think of the name it goes by but would be the same if better. I use a product made by U-Pol called dolphin glaze, use it every day and a great product sells for around 20 bucks...Eric

I have used it.I like the Evercoat glazing better. The pirahna putty doesnt spread out as smooth as the Evercoat. It gets clumpy when your spreading it.
