i am trying to decide which would be more durable on my frame, control arms and the firewall,por15 chassis black or acrylic enamel(like centari) with some flattening agent. can you spray por15?

I would definitely use POR-15 on the chassis. It can be applied with a sprayer, using their solvent. http://www.por15.com

I used POR-15, scuffed the firewall, and spray painted with Eastwood's Underhood Black. It looks good. I did use Chassis Coat Black over the POR-15 on the suspension parts. Both look very good. Good luck.

I find that the black POR15 is kinda hard to spray for some reason, clogs up the spray gun. I have much better results thinning and spraying the gray, then waiting about 5 hours & painting over with any kind of enamel. The POR15 should still be a little tacky when the top coat is applied.

Good Luck!!

I sprayed my floorpan and underneath the car with two coats of DP90. Let each coat dry five days between coats. After letting the last coat of DP90 dry for 2 weeks, I scuffed everthing with 3M green pad and applied Eastwoods underhood paint. Im telling you its a perfect finish and very tough.

I have used the Por and I don't like it, its way to thick looking. You don't get any detail in the metal with the Por(I'm talking die marks in the metal when it was stamped) The precedure I used above was applied on a completely stripped and metal etched surface, the results were amazing, and took alot of hours.

I know the por is tough but so is the Dp90, I could wack at it pretty hard and I probably would not see metal. Also the eastwood paint will touch fairly easy with a detail gun if you do happen to chip it in the assembly process. I have noticed that the por is kind of hard to touch-up, and it can'y be sanded very easily. Well this was my 2 cents worth.

On my frame I used the Dp90 (two coats) and then applied the frame paint from eastwood, again it looks very professional.

I'm with 70SS. I don't especially like the POR finishes. They are hard to brush, especially on a smooth surface. They work a little better on rough rusty panels. I also don't like to spray it as it is very difficult to clean up. Also did I mention the UV sensitivity problem?

I have used DP90 and in many cases I don't think it even needs to be topcoated. It is semi black in it's natural state. If you do top coat I have used GM Reconditioning Black with good results.

Yay, I like the finish of the Dp90, but this primer is also uv sensitive. The Eastwood under hood paint replicates the Dp90, and is more convient to repair if a accident happens. Mixing the Dp90 and spraying it is not very healthy and not as easy as spraying the Under Hood Black.

You can buy it by the spray bomb or by the Quart. I buy the quart, its cheaper that way and you can mix it the way you want it.

In five years it looked like crap? Is this a driver or Sunday cruiser?

I've used both POR 15 and eastwood paints. I sprayed frame, firewall with POR 15 and chassis coat semi-gloss turned out great just follow POR direction for reducing with solvent.
