Im not talking the Option codes like A01 F41 L78 LS6... im talking about all the codes in the boxes such as my steering wheel says KA (box69) and my radiator box says 65 BO. Im looking for a site to help with these, or even better yet if anybody knows of a book that deals with these I would love to know the name so I can get a copy.
Thanks!
Josh

Josh, good question! I have been looking for a way to decode mine also just for fun.

Fyi

Those other codes you are looking for are called Broadcast Codes and would vary by model, options etc.

I've complied a few buildsheets of 70 models from different plants. By comparing the different codes to the cars with their options can sometimes help in deducing what codes go with what options. Example, different drive shaft stripe colors went with specific engine/trans combinations. "KA" appears to be the code for a standard, black steering wheel at all plants except Kansas City where "KC" was used. And, not all plants used the same coding 'scheme'. For example, Baltimore seems to be the only plant using a code like '65 BE' for the radiator (box 46). Van Nuys codes theirs like 'BE51'. Other plants would simply use 'BE' (or whatever the radiator was).

You'll find plant differences in front and/or rear spring selection codes as well. Example, most plants with TH400 cars got GC GC front springs where 4-spds got GB GB springs - except Van Nuys and Baltimore where both transmissions got GB GB springs - and all had F41 suspension. Rear springs varied as well between OO OO and OQ OQ codes.

I have two or three known buildsheets and listed the code for each box from all of the plants with the known options on the car. Starting here (http://www.chevellestuff.com/70stuff/70velle/tech/70_build_sheet_decoding.htm) you can see some examples (box-by-box) of each plant with at least two examples from each.

thanks, some great info there... at least I can tell what all the boxes are calling for now. And i can see some of the boxes my sheet is missing!
