I am pretty sure that I know the answer to my own question but....
Is it adviseable to replace or repair door hinges prior to doing final body alignment? The body work on my 71 was done about 6 months ago and, as expected, some of the panels have settled. The shop has taken the car back and is ready to re-align the panels. My hinges were OK but not perfect. They suggested replacing the hinges prior to final alignment. The reasoning was sound as in "if we align with new hinges you don't have to worry about replacing the hinges in the near future and therefore having to possibly re-align the whole front end". I can pickup a new set of hinges for $100.00. My thinking is that it may be cheap insurance. Your thoughts?
(sorry for the long post about such a silly question)

Steve,
Why wouldn't they just rebuild your hinges if it's that necessary...new pins and bushings are cheap.
Plus, you'll have to paint the new hinges again.

Hello Bill,
I have a line on new GM hinges for $100.00 for the whole set. Rebuild kits for both detents and pins would be about $40.00 + shipping. For $60.00 I figured the new hinges would be a better get than doing a rebuild. After all, who knows my hinges might be bent or the something

Without a doubt you MUST rebuild or replace those hinges before final alignment.
