I'd like to thank everyone for the advice I've gotten here on my heads and cam - and in particular Mike Wolf and Micky Hale!

Started with a standard bore, factory 2 bolt shortblock BB (454), 10:1 CR, with 049 heads (slightly worked with 1.88/2.19 valves) and a Crane hydraulic cam, Performer RPM and spreadbore 750 Holley, headers (1 7/8" primaries/3 1/2" collectors into 2.5" pipes and Dynomax turbos. Based on dyno results, was cranking out just under 400 hp at the flywheel.

Block is now 30 over, honed, factory steel crank and rods, Wiseco pistons, Comp solid roller cam, AFR 305cc heads (partially cnc'ed, 1.88/2.25 with titanium retainers), new Performer RPM, Holley 830 DP. 11:1 CR. Exhaust is ceramic coated Doug's headers (2" primaries/3.5" collectors) into full 3" Pypes CC system with their Race Pro mufflers. Rotating assembly will be balanced and cam degreed in at the machine shop. Should be done in about a month, and back on the street by next Spring, I hope, after Micky finishes the full resto!

Got the AFR's through Mike Wolf. He promised them in 6-8 weeks. They'll be delivered today in less than 4! Mike was great to work with - was very patient with someone who knew/knows very little about performance parts in specing them out! Didn't push AFR's, but by getting a thorough understanding of our objectives, helped us narrow the selection to the 305's. I couldn't be happier!

Micky and my son son Mike worked closely on the cam specs. Here's the basics:

MFG: Comp, but custom spec'ed by Flowtech Induction (Ed Curtis)

Style: Solid roller

Lift at 1.70: .646

Duration @.050: .242/.248

SEP: 110

We're hoping the combination will result in between 550 and 600 hp! Quite a change!! And none of it would have been possible without the help of all those who offered advice here, my son Mike, Mike Wolf and Micky.

Thanks to all!! I'll let you know how she runs next year!!

Andy,
Is this going in the Green SS? Let me know how things work out. Sounds like new tires very quickly.

Are you planning to attend CB05? I plan to be there.

Gene - I sure hope so!! I can't wait to get 'er on the road again!

Ed - Yep. It's the formerly forest green/dark green/white stripes SS. By next Spring, it'll be the fathom blue/white/white stripes coupe car I always wanted but could never find when I was buying! So I'll have a matching pair - one coupe and one convert. Only this one will be alot more fun to drive than the convert! I'm saving all the #'s matching parts, so it can can go back to it's origin without a whole lot of effort.

No CB'05 for us, unfortunately. Oldest son is getting married in July, so things will be getting increasingly hectic leading up to it. Also, I love country music, but don't really care to get mixed up in Fan Fair traffic & festivities! Only ACES event we're going to this year is the CanAm regional.

Hopefully, the coupe will be on the road next year and we'll bring it to CB'06.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for the post & for letting us help a little with your project :beers:

Lookin forward to hearing how she runs when you get it going. Are you going to dyno the engine?

Only question I have is which plug wire are you going to leave off to keep it under 600HP.... :D

Ed - That would be great! I haven't seen a pic for over a year! Wish I could be there to see 'er first hand!! Maybe next year.

Mike - From your fingertips to the Motor Gods eyes!! It would be great, but I'm gonna have to learn to take it easy on tires. You warned me it would become addicting!!!!! Thanks again for all your help.
