I am new to suspension parts and I have a question about my 66. I jacked the driver's side rear up to change a tire and noticed a metal pinging sound. I changed the tire and lowered it to find that the rear driver's side is sitting 2" lower than the passenger's side. I thought it was the springs so I had my mechanic replace them with new ones and still the car is leaning. The upper and lower control arms are fine along with both shocks with no rear stablizer. The body mounts all seem to be fine as well. I jacked the rear of the car up and supported it with jack stands on each frame rail in front of the rear tires and started to jack the rear axle up in the middle. I noticed that the driver's side would lift before the passengers. Both rear springs are seated with the bottom of the spring facing the rear of the car. Would turning the driver's side spring so that the bottom of it would face the front help? I am at a loss on what is wrong. Thanks for any help.
