Have see a lot of 66 SS with grill extension all black or black with poslished alum ribs. Only sold one way on repo's. Which way did they come? All Black or some as the Repo's?

As Tony said... and I will note for the record.. The FACTORY INSTALLED ones were all black.. but NOS extensions will always be Chrome ribbed IMO. An over the counter part was not going to be made two different ways. So many folks get this wrong on their resto b/c they SEE SO MANY other SS's not all blacked out and even on the cover of the Catalogs that sell the aftermarket ones... and that's b/c they only come one way..you must paint them, whether aftermarket or NOS.

What is the best paint to use for them to make it look correct?

So, if you have to get NOS or Repo's, what is the proper way to prep and paint them? Also, what kind of paint?

Prep them as you would for any alumniumn material. It's a pain masking them off. Paint with the same semi-flate you would use on the grill.
