I'll be picking up my pressure blaster this weekend at Harbour Freight (40 lbs. model). I'll start sandblasting frame, suspension components are done except for paint but I was wondering if using plastic media on the fire wall and body is the way to go? There is no rust on the frame, firewall, or undercarriage; just the typical places on the body. Just needing your input and experience. Thanks

i used sand on my cowl but on the large flat area of the body i would stay away from sand because it generates heat which will warp panels i have no experience with plastic media but from what i read itmay be the way to go maybe someone who used it before can tune in

If your not familiar with sand blasting dont use sand on sheet medal. It warps it vary easily. You can use it though but you have to keep a good distance. I'v sand blasted construction equipment before but there is not much sheet medal on them. I would use plastic os glass beads i would call a local body shop to find out which would work best for your application.

Should be ok using sand on firewall as it's preety thick metal. Stay away from large flat spots on the body!!! It will warp the metal!!!Bottoms of panels are ok to do where the metal is doubled, never used it but plastic media is the way to go on the body.
Mike P.S. Where you at in Brunswick? I work in a bodyshop if you need some pointers.I'm in Hickory Hills
