I am planning to order some door Hinges (reproduction). Anyone have experiences with these? Good/Bad? Please post comments on whether you recommend these or replacing the pins and bushings with the kits.

I just replaced the pins and bushings on mine and they work great
Unless your are damaged I would just rebuild what you have

I went to a junkyard and found some Upper door hinges (the ones w/out the spring in them).
I found some decent looking Hinges laying loose inside the interior of a 66 Chevelle, the car and hinges were the same turqouise color so I am pretty sure they are correct for a Chevelle, and bought them. When I compare them to the original hinges that are still attached to my original rusty doors, they are different. My 66 is an early car (October car) but I was curious if Chevy changed the hinges or what the deal is with different hinges. Are they interchangeable? I would like to use them because the original ones I have are seemingly impossible to get unscrewed from the doors.

Brian, Are the hinges you have on your car cast aluminum and the ones you got at the junk yard stamped steel? I have 3 sets of 66 doors and all of them have the cast hinges on the top. I have one set of 67 doors that have the stamped style. The stamped style will work on a 66, but I think they are correct for the 67 only. Maybe someone else will chime in that has them on a 66 and know they are original to the car.
