Does anyone have a good picture and part numbers for a set of "correct" '70 horns? Should the part numbers be stamped into the horn housings?
The part numbers for 2 sets I have that are stamped in the housings below the note designations are:
A Note: 13006286 & 13026186
F Note: 13102285 & 13124465
Are any of these correct numbers for a '70 Chevelle? If not, any idea what they go to?
Thanks!
Andy
1970 Chevelles had:
Hi-note horn #9000514
Lo-note#9000239
These will have the first four numbers cast into them,9000,then the last three numbers stamped into them. These horns have #280 Hi-note & #279 Lo-note stamped into them, per Delco # system.
Their dates look like 9B4=1969 February-4th week.
Thanks, Rick
Those part numbers and date codes don't appear anywhere on these sets that I can see. Where would they be - on the side of the housings or inside the lip of the bells?
I assume these must either be later production horns, or go to something entirely different.
Thanks.

Here's (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/70Z15/Carhorns002.jpg) a picture of one of my 70 horns, just as mr70 described. There is a 9000 cast and 279 stamped.
Thats it.
And look at the corner adjacent to it for the assembly date code.
Something Like 9H4.
Thanks Guys. That's exactly what I needed!!
I really appreciate it!!

280.
No problem, Donny!
I'm interested in the answer, too!

The 1970 assembly Manual shows #280 Passenger side,#279 Drivers side.
That is not in stone though,as I have seen unrestored survivors have them the opposite way.One could argue the owners switched them later on too.
Their connector pin position will allow it to connect either way.
I believe both to be acceptable.
