Ok, I posted this once and no one had any idea what was causing it so I am trying again.

1971 Chevy Chevelle Malibu
-350 small block GM crate motor
-700r4 overdrive tranny
-hooker shorty comp headers

Here is the problem. From standstill, my car drives perfectly. If I am cruising at around 30-40 mph, any time I need to gun it (like getting on the freeway),
the car almost always hesitates, then the engine begins to sputter (like it isn't getting the gas it needs), and sometimes there is a loud click from the passenger side of my engine, and then all the sudden it goes perfectly. This happens 95% of the time, and 100% of the time while slightly turning. It isn't a problem with engine temp since it happens whether the engine is hot or cold. I really need a suggestion here, I am willing to try ANYTHING.

Is it my choke?
Is it my carb? (Carb is brand new, came with the block)
Is it my elec fuel pump? (Holley Red. 7psi)

Please reply with suggestions, i am truly stumped here...

did you post the brand and size of the carb last time? maybe it would help get responses if you provided that info....

I wouldn't think it would be the choke at all becuase it usually deactivates soon on my holley, unless you have it turned all the way backwards, which I doubt.

I thought it would be an exhuast leak at first, but if it was you would hear the clicking all the time. Maybe some timing?

As for the electric fuel pump, i've got nothing.

How's your distributor? Real close to the firewall? Weights sticking?

Does it happen every time you turn, or is it when you turn and floor it at the same time? Do you have a big carburetor and/or mechanical secondaries? That clicking sound could possibly be the engine backfiring, you could take it for a test drive without air cleaner and see if it gets any louder.

Check the float levels first. The problem happening while turning suggest this to me. Once the floats are right, try a larger squirter.
